Just an easy look around Anderson Gardens Park in Townsville, Tropical North Queensland. I invite you to just look and relax with a change of pace and maybe imagine you live in a place where Winter is just a cold memory. Although peaceful, it is in fact bordered by suburbs and within hundreds of metres of one of the busiest intersections in the greater Townsville City area. Anderson Gardens Park is also just one of a number of Parks which form the Townsville Botanic Garden Parks.Music used with permission, 'One Fine Day' by "Jason Shaw" - http://www.youtube.com/audionautix

In order to attract females, the Superb Lyrebird sings and mimics all the calls of other birds as well as other sounds he hears in the forest -even chainsaws and camera shutters! For me the Lyrebird is not only amazingly peculiar, but also very inspiring; it learns us that simulation and imitation are a natural phenomena in life. This bird forces us to look differently at our mediated society. Since I've met the Lyrebird, I perceive Disney castles, video games, breast implants, online shopping cards and indoor beaches differently. I wonder if the famous French hyperreality philosopher Jean Baudrillard knew about the Lyrebird?
