Sy the Prophet.Ending poverty is a great thought until you put it into context. If you have but one life it is a shame to live it in poverty. If you are an evolving eternal soul that has incarnated many times with many experiences it may be an experience you need to evolve yourself.I see much joy and happiness in the lives of the poor.I see terrible anguish in the lives of the rich. They are just different experiences.Love them and evolve. This understanding is important to you.

Maybe more people would eat, if less people made weapons. and just maybe, people wouldn't need to make weapons if they weren't at war. damn . . . I wonder if we can convince the government it doesn't need oil.

How about the vocal community that have the fame use it against the black oppressive leaders in Africa. There must first be a pathway and economic system for that money to grow and benefit all within that country. If not it just ends up in the pockets of African Tyrants. Cry out for Government change within the poorest countries and then maybe something can be done.I am not saying this is the only problem but it is a major one that must be resolved as is the sharing of wealth and resources.

lacrosseplaya999
themtb2007. My song is called "in my name 26500" a rap with "maxdad" a 12 year old youtube user playing "stairway to heaven" in the background. Check Me Out. While I think religion, and governments CAUSE suffering, the Rich USA doesnt have to Profit in such lands where it happens. RIGHT HERE in the Bahamas, we go and Have a good time, MILLIONS go a year, yet the people live in poverty. They should profit handsomely by our visits, yet they do not. If WE cant make examples THERE, then WHERE?!

02joseph02
this is true, but Just liek folks like Jessie jackson, FAME brings media attention where the person speaks... therefore bringing attention to whatever the issue is. Like them or not, without such ones, we would only get crap, spun, bias news that panders to the advertisers on the news show.

nothing is a wasted effort, im sorry to say but u have to have a little faith in this country, in people, in everyone "dont judge it till youve seen across the horizon" Dr. M this means that dont judge whats happening to whats going to happen until you have seen it in person -flint mitchell

With that attitude, of course it is. How do you know they do not help people? There are celebrities who travel around the world, they may have nice things - but that doesn't mean they are selfish and unwilling to help. Even if you're an average person, you can still do something. If it takes a celebrity to notify people on how to make an impact, then what waste is that when there are people obviously doing something?

Thanks for spreading the word and inspiring people to make a difference. This world is our community-let's take it back!!!

Perhaps you are right, though it is just stupid to stop before you have even started making a serious attempt. Indeed our western world is rather build around materialism, but anything can be changed. Democracy enables us, the majority, to get what we want. So we, the majority, just have to want it. There will always be a few bad apples. But the needs of the many out weigh the needs of the few. We wont get anywhere if we don't try.

I find it amazing that celebrities support these causes, asking the general public to help, when one pair of Elle MacPherson's shoes for instance could feed how many kids. She works in an industry that supports materialism yet asks for people to help end poverty. Give me a break. Celebrities only do this for exposure and ending poverty will never happen. People are greedy and selfish so supporting this cause is only a wasted effort. Great idea but it's hopeless.

Extremely disturbed to see Mel B write her name on a baby bottle in this film. Formula feeding increses health risks, and increases poverty. Breastfeeding saves lives, and money. If we are tryign to end poverty for children, we should not be touting manufactured food replacements, with high costs and high death rates. 4000 babies die every day from unsafe formula prep in resource poor countries. A celebrity may as well join this campaign by signing her name across a gravestone.

LetsWacthThat
I think we all can do something every time we take decisions i.e. when we think about what we can buy to eat. I try to buy less but good food and support fair trade goods and I sign petitions. Our signature is so precious! We can do a lot!

drunkinlee14
umm there is tons we can do as individuals to end world poverty. it takes personal change for this to happen, not just telling a leader to do it. there is infinite child sponsorship.. we're wealthy in north america in general.. and our money goes 20 times farther in 3rd world countries, so giving a little does A LOT.

"The only organisation who can do it are the governement not us." Hell no. We need to take the government and smush it back to a small government. The government should only protect our rights and property. Welfare and all that crap are making ALL of us poor, even the ones getting welfare. Churches around the world are feeding and educating millions of people overseas and the government isn't doing anything. It's OUR job. Tell our leaders that we want our freedom back.
