Anytime we leave it to the government, a massive chunk of the resources (aka money) is wasted in paperwork and red tape. If we want to make a difference, we need to TRULY act "in my name" by making the change ourselves. Research the various NPOs to learn which are most effective and least wasteful and make a contribution to them. Because history has PROVEN that giving our dollars to our governments to get it done is about the least effective way possible to help.

There is no way to completely eliminate poverty, but the least people can do is atleast help cushion what people have to live through. The worst is whats going in Africa, check out Invisible Children group, if you want to see the bottom of the barrel. This is what people want to not allow, to atleast give them a fair chance in life.

It's a petition. At the UN meeting, they promised to end extreme poverty. They also promised education to EVERYONE. The deadline they gave was 2015... it's coming up quickly, and they have not delivered on their promises. This is an effort to bring this to light, and hope they can keep their word.
